Toxicity to Daphnia

ECOBIOBALL is not toxic to marine micro organisms.

ECOBIOBALL has been tested for acute toxicity to Daphnia in tests carried out according to the method set out in OCDE 202 (2004), which confirms that ECOBIOBALL is not toxic to Daphnia, since it does not inhibit their movement.

Daphnia magna is a planktonic crustacean in the Cladocera order. It ranges between 0.2 and 5.0 mm in size. It lives in aquatic environments and eats mainly plankton, although it can also consume micro organisms such as protists and bacteria, as well as broken up organic matter.

Toxicity to fish

ECOBIOBALL is not toxic to fish. ECOBIOBALL has been tested for acute toxicity to fish in tests carried out on Brachydanio rerio (zebra fish) according to the method set out in the “Fish Acute Toxicity Test”, OCDE 203 (1992), which confirms that ECOBIOBALL is not toxic to fish, since it does not inhibit their movement.

The zebra fish (Danio rerio or Brachydanio rerio) is a member of the Cyprinidae family, along with carp and barbel, and is originally from south-east Asia. It is often used for scientific tests.

It is especially noted because its genetic make-up is very similar to that of humans (we share 80% of the same genomes), which means that the results obtained in tests on this fish can potentially be extrapolated to humans.

Biodegradability

ECOBIOBALL is biodegradable in water. ECOBIOBALL has been tested for biodegradability in water according to the method set out in OCDE 301D (1992), which confirms that ECOBIOBALL is biodegradable in water.
